Segway Scooter Night Safety

Segway Scooter Night Safety

The Segway Scooter is a brilliant idea for moving people around, it makes so much sense and it is so fun to cruise around on. Recently a friend and I were cruising around and I noticed that the Segway handled well when pitting against uneven sidewalks where roots had pushed them up. Sometimes it was fun to drive off these as if a little jump. Of course I later thought, that it might be scary, even dangerous if one were to do this at nighttime, when there were no streetlights or moon out.

I propose that we put lights on the Segway Smart Technology for night riding, but also do not wish to draw down the battery power. Is it possible to build a light, which can light up the sidewalk or path without drawing down the Segway battery? There are energy efficient lights, but is there a way to totally skip the battery use and still have a bright light in which to see for safety? How about a device which would enhance the already unparalleled maneuverability, freedom of movement and advanced energy system one, which would allow the full power to the integrated control system and embedded sensors? That’s what I am talking about.

There are so many new advances in the Segway, but can we take it to the next step and beyond? I propose a revolutionary new night safety lighting system for my new Segway using electromagnetic induction technology to charge a capacitor instead of the lights working off a battery or power source.

Currently there are some nifty micro-flashlights being used which you can buy which use a similar technique and are available thanks to the Everlite Flashlight technology research lab. These smaller flashlights work by shaking them for about thirty seconds and shine for about 6 minutes and they shine quite bright since they use a very bright LED light. Here is a link to this home use flashlight:

Right now of course we are using one of these and we have just duct taped it to the Segway and will try it out tonight, the question is can we get Segway’s new Licensee WowWee to integrate such a device into the molded plastic design or can we get two of them one facing down and one facing forward. With sensors, which turn them on as the sun goes down so they will shine and be ready just before it gets dark like the city’s street lights. Folks it is time to upgrade our Segway Scooters for the future. Think on it.
